Eternal Families

I don't have a lot of time to write yet again this week, but I had another interesting experience with one of our newest investigators. We met her this week as a referral and she wanted to simply learn how to pray. We had a small lesson with her over Whatsapp where we sent various messages, voice recordings, and a video about Christ. I personally rather enjoyed the lesson because I had a bit more time to think and translate what I was going to say.

We taught her another lesson, this time for a video call, but it didn't quite feel right. We decided to change things up a little bit more and talk about how families can be together forever. However, my companion told me that I should be the one to direct the lesson this time. I became rather disappointed with my lack of the gift of tongues as I babbled out random words and phrases about the Plan of Salvation. All was going rather poorly until we had a chance to stop because she needed to help her child with something. That gave me enough time to breathe and to readjust my focus.

Once we got back to the lesson, I focused more on why we were talking about eternal families in the first place. As soon as I began to think about my own family and what the idea of eternal families truly means outside of a nice phrase or words in a lesson, I began to cry. I told her with the strongest Spirit I’ve had in a while that despite the fact that I am far from my family, I know that families can be together forever. She began to cry herself and to feel more of why coming closer to God is more than just a nice feeling. She came with us to Church the next day with her little child. It’s a simple spirit and message but it has power.

 Love you all
