Sunrise, Sunset

  As I still walk the dusty paved mix of roads in Navojoa, I've noticed the beautiful sunsets of Sonora. It may be the contrast against the dry desert that I always see but the mix of deep purple and light yellow always makes me happy to be outside.    It was especially helpful when me and my new gringo companion had our bikes break down at least 6 different times in one week. The member that we usually go to fix our bikes was happy to see us every other day. It was especially fun as we were biking all across the city when one of the bike pedals snapped off.  My experience as a younger kid riding a razor scooting finally came in handy. I mounted my once trusted steed and got to push off the curb of the street with one leg and dangle my foot over the only pedal I still had. Finding the Lost Sheep

  Another week of festivities and another year of missionary work.  I learned a lot more of the various culture tidbits here and there. For New Years, the Mexican people like to enjoy their time with their friends and family and pray for a lot more blessings and happiness in the year to come. Like in the states, everyone gathers together for the countdown and for the new year. Unlike in the states, they eat 12 grapes, one for each month of the year, with a wish that they want. As well, instead of kissing someone at the countdown they just give everyone a hug and give gratitude for them. We didn't get to see any of that as we went back to our house early. I found this all fairly  interesting,  but with awkward exchanges as we met with members days after and receiving a hug or two for the first time in awhile.
