As We Glory in His Name

The chicken runs with its head cut off and its two left talons clacking together while it chases the checkered ball. Its shouts of nonsense and wild movements are what give chance to score in the goalpost. And it scored cheerfully and spitefully more times than it should've. In simple, I'm getting better at soccer. We had lots of laughs as we won another game on Pday.   The success we had this week in our missionary lives varied slightly in how we were able to teach people. For this past transfer, we've struggled with various parts that come with mission life. It's been particularly hard to help our friends complete their commitments. Yet, one of the things I noticed especially this week was my companion's gift to be sensitive to the spirit. One new friend that we managed to find has been living alone for a few years while his kids live with someone else. His wife had died a few years earlier. His house remains rather reserved until we relieve a good laugh or two. W...

That's Not the Eiffel Tower

In our recent Zone Conference, we got to talk about spiritual subjects, as one does in Zone Conferences, and see lots of old friends. I especially enjoyed seeing my trainer and reminding him of his various songs he used to sing to me. It has always been good to laugh at my old experiences with my companions. One of them is a young girl whose energy ...

Called to Serve Him

We started the week off well after finally being able to walk around more as my companion had sprained his ankle a few days earlier. He fell down the stairs by accident, only the last few but just enough to make it so he couldn't walk much. We visited a lot of people those first few days of the week. Many of them weren't interested. We also began to lose contact with some investigators, others not progressing, and other such missionary problems.  It helped that one of the people that we did visit let us in. He had some questions about the Book of Mormón. We explained the basics. He didn't have much of a background of the Bible so he had a lot of questions. We came back another day to explain about the Restoration. My companion testified of what the gospel means to him. Through his gentle stream of tears, the spirit touched our new friend. In the end of the week we received a message from him saying he and his family had gotten sick and won't be able to visit with us but...
