The Human Piñata
This week has been one of the best of my mission so far. Not because of a miracle of faith, moving of mountains, baptisms, or some other form of physical blessings. This week was a blessing by way of the Spirit and the love of God for me and His children.
One of the ways that I've learned to have a better spirit with me as I get to hustle on down the streets of México is through my attitude, desire, and thoughts. Even though at times I feel like a piñata getting pummeled and curb stomped by a language barrier, inadequacies, and social interactions with strangers, I learned that I had a better, happier spirit as I thought more about our different investigators and how I could help them come unto Christ. As I practiced this with the help of my companion, we felt like we were truly doing the Lord's work and we loved doing it. I feel a strong spirit of this.
One of the coolest things about the Gospel is the Holy Ghost, a real, tangible 3rd member of the Godhead. We often have people in lessons or in mere contacts say that they feel "muy bien" when they talk with us. Their feeling the Spirit has always been very interesting to me especially when there are such awkward pauses, blank stares, or other confusion during the lessons. But the Holy Ghost and the Light of Christ is what sanctifies any word or deed that we give.
In almost every lesson or prayer I talk about or mention the love of God and hat we all are "Sus Hijos.” He truly knows us individually. Along with feeling this eternal love, I've been listening to the Hymn, "Because I have been given much.”
Because I have been blessed by thy great love dear Lord;
I’ll share thy love again According to thy word;
I shall give love to those in need,
I’ll show that love by word and deed;
Thus shall my thanks be thanks in deed
At times, or almost all the time, I can't do very much here. But I know that by both word and example, and by the testifying power of the Holy Ghost, I can share His love with His children and show my gratitude to Him.
Love you all!
