How the Grinch Found Christmas

In our final week of our transfer, it included lots of various exchanges and lots of gringo-formed Spanish.

In one of my exchanges, I got to talk to an older woman that proudly gave us food from Sonora: Carne Asada with peppers, beans, and home made flour tortillas. In our little conversation that we had with her, I found her strong faith rather compelling. I've met plenty of people that have a strong faith in the Lord but hers felt different. Her stories always centered around covenants with the Lord and the power of His love for us. Especially in her stories of the temple, I felt a strong feeling about the temple that I haven't been able to feel in some time. I found myself drawn to her testimony without her ever really saying "I have a lot of faith."  This day was happily followed with a woman that was almost bounding with glee as we talked about the importance of baptism. We talked about receiving the Holy Ghost as part of it and she explained how she felt just the smallest burning in her heart while we taught her. She ended up accepting a date for baptism and her giddy smile brightened my soul.

In an other exchange that I had, we had the privilege to talk to many people about Christmas and the significance it had on various people. It was fun to talk to this Elder as he has lots of ideas he wants to complete. But in my time with him, I found myself learning how to better learn about peoples interests: how to better care for the things someone else cares about. When it came back as normal companions, i found myself using that same idea for the husband of an investigator that we have. I felt a lot more connected to the person and they seemed to have enjoyed what our little conversation.

Ill be staying in the same area with the same companion for this next transfer and it was nice to see some old friends of mine return to Hermosillo. Im also finding myself sharing more of my thoughts and little stories with people. Nice. I hope all are well in this Christmas season.
